Los Angeles – Today, Wendy Greuel met with students, community leaders, and neighbors across the Boyle Heights community to discuss her vision for Los Angeles and the importance of creating jobs across the city, reforming LA’s school system, and investing in more public transportation.
Greuel hosted a rally with dozens of constituents at her Boyle Heights field office, and spoke to supporters about the critical importance of the upcoming election, encouraging them to vote. Greuel pointed to her public and private sector experience and her ability to bring different groups together to deliver results for Angelenos.
“The first time I ran for office, I knocked on doors from morning till night – and ended up winning my election by just 225 votes,” said Greuel. “In this election, we have an important choice to make about the direction our city will take, and I can’t get there without your help. Join me. Help me lead our city forward.”
Earlier in the day, Greuel met with a group of high school student journalists from schools around Boyle Heights, who held a mock press conference to practice for future careers in journalism. After the rally, she joined Hollenbeck Middle School students to commemorate the school’s 100th anniversary.
Greuel has a strong coalition of support in the Boyle Heights community, including Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez, County Supervisor Gloria Molina, Council member Jose Huizar, former Assembly member Hector de la Torre, and civil rights icon Dolores Huerta.
